WORKSHOPS: Poetry, Fiction, Life Writing
Over the past ten years I’ve led workshops in libraries and museums, schools and offices. I’ve sat in my scarf and gloves in icy village halls, and forced the windows open in overheated classrooms. My students and I have explored deserted churches, eaten blackberries, handled Victorian shoes, lounged in cafes, and got close to daffodils – all in the cause of gaining inspiration. Sometimes I play music or take in a painting. Often we look at postcards or photographs. At every workshop we write, read, talk, think. Every workshop is different. Every workshop is tailored to the writers who are attending.
I love running workshops. I enjoy the interaction with people I’d never otherwise meet, and the way that every writer surprises me. In my workshops I encourage everyone, whatever their age and experience, to explore their writing voice. I’m comfortable with teaching poetry, fiction, life writing, or general creative writing, and have taught students from the age of 4 to 94.
If you’d like me to run a workshop for you, whether for an hour, two hours, or a whole day, do get in touch.
